The storytelling bug is one I inherited. I heard my grandfather tell tales so big that I am still shocked I ever believed them as a child. I remember spending many sleepless nights trying to put an ending to a story which he said he would finish next time he saw me. Oh, he was great at cliffhangers!
My mother, when she was not chasing one if us (my brothers, never the sweet innocent girls, ha ha), she used to submit short stories for writing contest all the time. Through her, I found the love of reading and writing.
Although I was one of eleven children, I broke tradition and have only had one, a son. He has grown into a fine young man who although will never read my stories; he fully supports me following my dream and encourages me to put a piece of myself into each story. I hope you can see this as you read them.
This journey is not one I do alone. My sister, brother, and niece are all successful published authors as well, and the list is still growing. You should hear us when we all get together. Our family stories now have entwined with our books. Many times we will spend hours on end laughing and plotting and only stop when our ribs hurt too much. What a gift to be able to share this time with them.
